SFX Parishioners' Prayer Pledges
Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated a "Year for Priests" in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the dies natalis (birth) of John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests worldwide.
This year is meant to deepen the commitment of all priests to interior renewal for the sake of a stronger and more incisive witness to the Gospel in today's world.
It will conclude in Rome with an international gathering of priests with the Holy Father on June 19, 2010.
The Golden Jubilee Committee for the 50th anniversary celebration of SFX invites parishioners to pledge their presence before the Blessed Sacrament to pray for our beloved Jesuit priests. Specific hours have been marked and the Chapel will be opened specifically for this purpose at those times.
Thank you for your generosity of heart and spirit in praying for our beloved Jesuits.

"When you pray ...
... do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.” (Matthew 6:5-6)
I know the younger generation laugh at us oldies who harp on the need for praying for peace and wishing for peace. It's so old fashioned. Yeah, it is. But peace is something the world still hasn't attained and it's something we all need - in our homes, our families, our work places and our hearts. Peace in our hearts should never be taken for granted.
